Assistive Listening Devices
Clearly hearing aids are a significant help for most people with hearing loss. However, for those individuals with severe loss, they are only a component of the rehabilitation package. Additional strategies include listening strategies and also 'Assistive Listening Devices' (ALD's). ALD's include products such as induction loops which can be fitted to the home and help the hearing aid wearer with conversation and the TV. Many telephones have this feature to help hearing impaired users. At SHC we are able to demonstrate these products.
Listening Phone
Using the Telephone can be a frustrating experience or people with a hearing loss. An amplified, telecoil compatible phone can help greatly.
Hearing the TV
Listening to the TV with a hearing loss can be a source of great frustration.
